An Inspiring Place to Grow, Believe and Achieve

Welcome to the Year 2 Science Home Learning Page.

Here are some activities which you can do at home. Please note that I will be adding more science activities throughout the term and they are not expected to be completed.

Animals, including humans

National Curriculum: 3a: Notice that animals, including humans, have offspring which grow into adults.

Activity 1: Look at the PowerPoint showing the life cycle of a turtle (below). Make notes if you would like too. Make note of the key points; eggs, hatchling, juvenile and sea turtle. Discuss each of these stages.

Resources:  'Life Cycle of a Turtle PowerPoint'

Activity 2: Cut and stick activity. If you do not have a printer then you can draw your own life cycle similar to the print out version. You can find this in the resource section of the year 2 home learning page.

Resources:  'Cut & Stick Activity'

Activity 3: Write a couple of sentences to describe what happens at each part of the life cycle; eggs, hatchling, juvenile, sea turtle. Remember refer back to the PowerPoint if you need to. You can use the sheet on the year 2 home learning page or you can create your own in a book or on paper.

Living things and their habitats

National Curriculum 1b: Identify that most living things live in habitats to which they are suited and describe how different habitats provide for the basic needs of different kinds of animals and plants, and how they depend on each other.

Activity 4:  Use the ‘woodland and ocean animal habitat worksheet’ in the resource section to create your own woodland and ocean scene. Can you draw the correct animals in their correct habitats?
